EVERYONE, in support of women's reproductive rights and an end to gender-based violence, IS WELCOME!!! Women, BIPOC, LGTBQ+, ALL Allies & their families alike!
We collectively prohibit conduct that may constitute discrimination, harassment or retaliation of any kind, including, but not limited to: race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, disability or mental health status, housing status, occupation, political affiliation, genetic characteristics and a conviction for which a pardon had been granted or a record suspended. There is no hierarchy among the above-mentioned grounds for discrimination and harassment. In other words, none of them is more important or more significant than the others.
This includes all forms of communication and participation, leading up to and surrounding the events.
We acknowledge and recognize that our Women’s March events are on ancestral lands of the Indigenous Peoples. We also recognize that we are located in the traditional home of many nations* who are the original inhabitants of the unceded land which is now known as Canada. We are honored to work with and learn from communities all across this country now referred to as Canada. Therefore, we want to acknowledge all First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples whose original and treaty territories we stand upon across Turtle Island. We acknowledge them as the past, present and future caretakers of this land.
Furthermore, we acknowledge the genocide, ethnic cleansing, stolen land, coercive assimilation, violence-backed treaties, internment, family separation, youth incarceration, rape, sterilization without consent, violence towards men, and forced removal to reflect actions taken by colonizers, as well as the many atrocities still happening to the Indigenous Peoples now, in 2024. As we march each year, we remember the national crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, 2-Spirit and Girls.
In reality Canada won't ever be "decolonized", but we do commit to shift from a colonization mindset, to one of respect and inclusion for First Nations and Indigenous communities, that have centuries old crimes they underwent, and address it in meaningful and authentic ways.
We commit to this by learning the true history of Canada and Indigenous history, and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ history, cultures, pride, and diversity, acknowledging the land we live on and its importance to our local Indigenous communities.
